Becer Research Group 2016

Welcome to the Becer Research Group. Our research group has initially been established at the University of Warwick (2010-2013) and then moved to Queen Mary, University of London (May-2013).

Polymer Chemistry Laboratory is located in the School of Engineering and Materials Science that places us in the middle of interdisciplinary research activities. We are a member of both Materials Research Institute and Institute of Bioengineering at QMUL. We have a broad range of research activities with having polymer chemistry in the core.

We are utilizing living polymerization techniques such as anionic or cationic polymerizations and controlled radical polymerization techniques, in combination with highly efficient organic reactions, aka click reactions, to prepare most of our designed polymers. We can perform almost all types organic reactions in our laboratories in order to obtain the desired small or large molecules. Our laboratories are very well equipped and we are able to perform detailed analysis of small organic compounds as well as polymers. More details on synthesis and characterization techniques can be found under the facilities section on our website.

We are developing novel polymer synthesis techqniques to obtain functional materials. We are working closely with oil industry to investigate the next generation of oil additives. Currently, Manuel and Valentin are working on the Infineum project for this purpose. We are providing contract synthesis and characterisation service to industry and academia. Our laboratories are very well equipped for detailed polymer analysis. Moreover, our research is sponsored by various sources and currently we are also seeking for more industrial partners to fund our research. During these days most of our research activities are funded by EPSRC, European Union Horizon 2020, Infineum Ltd., Turkish Land Forces, Materials Research Institute (QMUL), and Queen Mary University of London. Please contact Dr Remzi Becer if you are interested in funding or donating to support our research activities on nanotechnologies based on polymer chemistry
